The Good Life
with a Southern Drawl

Woman of Style: Nicole Paloma

By Amy Bailey — May 01, 2015

I am always inspired by the creativity of this beautiful Southern fashion designer, but I am also inspired by her spirit and her kindness. Nicole Paloma resides along 30a and creates some of the most ethereal clothing you have ever seen. Right on point with the bohemian style that is so sought after right now, yet timeless and feminine, Nicole Paloma designs should be in your closet. MyScoop had the opportunity to interview Nicole, her authenticity and honesty about how hard life can be may inspire you even more than her gorgeous designs. What inspires your work? Putting food on the table. Just kidding. Having the opportunity and the satisfaction of making women feel beautiful.

How does your family inspire your creations? Taking the love and warmth with me to work helps me design my creations.

What is your favorite place in the world? South home – The Beach.

What advice would you give women going through life’s trials and tribulations? Living your truth and being honest with who you are inspires others to move through their own trials and tribulations with a bit more inner grace and courage. As Marianne Williamson wrote, ” If we let our own light shine, it we unconsciously gives others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” I believe that one of the main purposes in life is to find who we are by helping others. True human compassionate connections- To me that is God.

How do we begin to seek a better life? When you find a purpose, do what love would want you to do. Love hard.

Describe your personal style. Tomgirl…A little rough around the edges. But definitely feminine.

What is your favorite quote? That’s hard, there are so many that have a great deal of meaning for me, but as far as a quote that pertains to the design aspect of my life, “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will.

Who have played mentor roles in your life? As far as my career, my mother has supported me and has been with me from the very beginning. Without her undying belief in me and help through this roller coaster ride, I would not be here today. We are more friends than anything, but I greatly respect her and value what she has to say.

Advice to women in 20’s? Take time to discover yourself before diving into life’s “suppose to’s”- A career, marriage and children. All those are wonderful, but you need to discover your true values, passions and purpose which I believe can come at a slightly later age.
