If you ever want to feel motivated and energized, spend 5 minutes with this dynamo entrepreneur and mom. With 40 approaching Ryan Graham isn’t mourning her younger years but embracing a new outlook on life and health and looking at each day as a new chapter to write.

I love the fact that since childhood I can look back and recall the moments that I was evolving and reinventing myself always. To me—it is all about writing the next chapter. I love that I am more open to opportunity. I feel as if I am getting started on Chapter 1 most everyday—for my energy and focus is stronger than it has ever been.

Tell us about your typical morning routine? I generally wake up and head to the gym or track for a morning workout. I don’t spend hours doing either, but find value in simply moving my body. Then always, always, ALWAYS recover from a workout with my special protein shake with greens and adaptogens (plant extracts that increase the body’s ability to resist the damaging effects of stress and promote or restore normal physiological functioning.)

What do you choose to eat throughout the day? I addressed breakfast above because my shakes are complete meal replacements for me; however, I eat 5 times a day. It truly differs with activity daily, but I keep it simple: apples, Lara bars, avocado, eggs, quinoa, greens, and Isagenix protein bars. And bowls are a FAVE currently—with a base of greens of any kind, quinoa or sweet potatoes, then a lean protein. I find it is quality over quantity for sure.

What are your go to meals? Homemade bowls are my go to. Salmon and greens are a must as well, but also love anything Mexican and Mediterranean. My husband and I both enjoy cooking—we believe the less legs on an animal the better for our body.

What is your exercise routine? I currently run about 5 days a week, with some workouts on some of those days. I am in the gym at least 2 days a week—more or less, for 30 minutes to an hour. I love weight training, but have recently tried Pilates and am LOVING it as well!

How do you motivate yourself to exercise? My motivation is that feeling I create by moving my body everyday! Once someone creates a habit—we can become an extension of bettering that habit daily.

What energy boosting habits do you make part of your daily routine? I absolutely believe in this and have done a lot of work to understand how we can simply change our mindset with a few switches. Energy can flow naturally without the need of stimulants. I believe in changing the music in my house or headphones before any business call or exercise routine. I also love love LOVE adaptogens—these are naturally occurring plants in our world today and very powerful for our bodies!

What are your sleep habits? Although I don’t require much sleep, I receive 6 hours of SOLID sleep majority of my days! I always encourage others to sleep more-it truly is where our body recovers.

What are your favorite skincare products? I love Beautycounter, Isagenix, and anything proven to be natural-always cautious with reading labels as our skin is the largest organ.

What is your favorite quote about aging? “Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength!”~ Betty Friedan
{I have many, but this one is a reminder of how we should recognize the gift of 86,400 seconds each day and pursue ultimate long term wellness at any age}

How does how you feel now compare to your 20s? Wow-what a difference! It is as if the cloud cover has lifted. My awareness and my commitment have shifted dramatically. I feel better physically and mentally now than ever before—although we can’t start over, we can always strive to reverse. I am completely grateful to have a mindset that sees our body as a miracle and gift daily. And at 40 {it’s coming quick}, I am confident that I will expand my wellness even more!

What do you love about getting older? I love the fact that since childhood I can look back and recall the moments that I was evolving and reinventing myself always. To me—it is all about writing the next chapter. And now I have the opportunity to share experiences and mistakes made along the way with my boys. I also love that I am more open to opportunity. I feel as if I am getting started on Chapter 1 most everyday— my energy and focus is stronger than it has ever been.

What do you detest about getting older? There is absolutely nothing!

What is your fitness advice to women? Commit to yourself first. Women most often are so giving to others, but if we don’t fill our own cup up-we won’t have anything to pour out. 15-30 minutes a day of moving your body is so key. Workouts can be found on all smart devices {absolutely no excuse} these days. Although I love gyms-it is not always an option. Thank your body in whatever way you choose. And don’t forget to fuel it. The key in feeding it within that 30 minute-1 hour window post workout is when the magic of easier transformation occurs. Over time it creates better energy, better sleep, and a better life daily! Simply start.
